Featuring a lightweight and compact design, the RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens is a versatile standard zoom covering wide-angle to normal-view focal lengths. Designed for everyday use and an excellent choice for vlogging and content creation, this lens is well-suited for landscapes, cityscapes, street scenes, portraits, products, and more. An STM stepping AF motor produces fast, smooth, and near-silent autofocus performance to support both stills and video recording, and an Optical Image Stabiliser compensates for up to 4.5 stops of camera shake to better enable taking sharp handheld photos in difficult lighting conditions.

  • Standard wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens is designed for use with full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras.

  • STM stepping motor offers fast, quiet, smooth, and accurate autofocus performance that is ideal for video recording as well as still shooting.

  • Optical Image Stabiliser technology compensates for up to 4.5 stops of camera shake to better enable taking sharp handheld photos in difficult lighting conditions. When paired with EOS R-series cameras featuring an In-Body Image Stabiliser (IBIS), up to 7 stops of shake correction are provided.

  • Incorporates a focus control ring on the lens barrel that can directly adjust numerous settings including shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation, and more. Located towards the front of the lens, this ring effectively adds a third dial to the camera's main dial and quick control dial.

  • Two aspheric elements and a Super Spectra Coating minimise ghosting and flare.

  • Minimum focusing distance of 11.8" for working with close-up subjects.

  • Compact and lightweight lens weighs just 7.4 oz.

Rf 24-50mm

I love this little lens, it’s light, it’s cheap, it’s sharp.

Canon RF-S 10-18mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM

With the Canon RF-S 10-18mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens installed, and the camera switched on, a message appears on the camera instructing the user to 'Set the lens to the shooting position'. This requires the lens ring to be turned to activate the lens in shooting mode. On my purchased lens there is a resistance/stiffness in turning the ring to move to the 24 setting. There is a definite effort required to move the ring. It is not a smooth/free turn of the ring. Whenever the ring is being closed from the 24 setting there is an immediate need to again exert some effort to close the lens down. I would however point out that the lens moves smoothly between the 24 and 50 settings of the lens ring when activated. I have tried to gain confirmation that the stiffness of activating and closing the lens ring is how the lens is meant to work and not a flaw. I don't want to keep turning the lens if, through time, it may break the turning mechanism of the lens. Unfortunately, at this time I have been unable to have my query clarified. Other than my query, as described above, I have found that the lens works perfectly.
