HDEW CAMERAS what's the story?

HDEW started out in 1993 as a small high street electrical shop in Wallington, Surrey, selling everything electrical to the local community. It then grew just a pinch establishing two more stores in the Surrey area. The three stores merrily chugged along, evolving with ever changing buying trends and incorporating new products.

Out with the old in with the new!
No more cassette players or VHS – Slowly but surely the tradition of buying electrical goods from independent retailers on the high street was superseded by the information highway, AKA the Internet. Once again HDEWCameras adapted its business model by launching a website. The product lines narrowed and photography equipment became the main seller. We find ourselves today with a small but productive team that includes sales, shipping, marketing, buying and most importantly tea/coffee making.

What we do for the Community
HDEW Cameras may be relatively small but it has a big heart and we love to support the local community. We continue to be proud sponsors of Old Freemen’s Hockey Club in Ashtead. We donate raffle prizes for their many fundraisers and provide funding to help pay for pitch hire, kit, coach hire and the general costs of running the club. We are strongly behind OFHC in their efforts to support the rejuvenation of the Old Freemen’s Clubhouse.

Old Freemen's Hockey Club News
It's been a while since our last update on the club, they are now in division 4 of the Surrey Ladies Hockey league, which is a fantastic achievement. The standard in div 4 is certainly giving the ladies a run for their money. They have played 5 games this season, they have lost 4 and won 1, however, in a few of these matches they have actually only had 9 or 10 players due to illness and injuries preventing a full team from making it out onto the pitch.

This weekend OFHC played Barnes Vets away in Richmond, it was a beautiful sunny autumn morning, the team were really up for the challenge and had hoped to win the game but two last minute dropouts and having to have a player ref the match meant that they only had 10 players out on the field.

They decided to lose a position upfront and the two forwards played in loose positions covering as much of the attacking half/25 as possible with major support from the midfield positions. They held Barnes off for the first 20 minutes but Barnes pressed on and scored 3 goals before half time.

Half time talks were positive and in the second half OFHC really made the ball do the work and managed to score twice. Once from a powerful strike from the centre mid and once from a one-two between right mid and one of the forwards. Barnes managed to fumble a fourth goal in the second half which left the scoreline as 4-2 to Barnes.

The ladies were pleased to have won the second half and were confident that they could have won the match if they had a full team out and maybe a sub on the sideline.

Well done to the ladies and goodluck with your match this Saturday the 7th of November, if anyone would like to go along and support the games starts at 16.00 City of London Freemen's School, Ashtead.
